Meetings and events in October 2026

The weekend starts here, and it’s the closest one to the start of October that I could fit this in – so with no further ado, here’s what meetings etc. are happening this month.

Wakefield RISC OS Computer Club (WROCC) meeting – 7th October, 7:45pm

WROCC usually meets up online, using Zoom, on the first Wednesday of each month, and the next meeting will feature Mark Moxon talking about the various hacking he has done to old Acornsoft games – such as Elite, Revs, and so on.

Wessex ARM User Group (WAUG) meeting – 10th October, 10:30am

WAUG usually meets online, using Zoom, on the second Saturday of the month. These meetings are much more informal than those with guest speakers, and are more a group of RISC OS users (or ex-users) who get together online and have a general discussion, which may not even touch much upon RISC OS itself.

RISC OS User Group of London (ROUGOL) meeting – 19th October, 7:45pm

ROUGOL usually holds hybrid meetings – on Zoom for the online cohort, and in a pub for the in-person cohort – on the third Monday of each month. A speaker for this meeting – if any – is yet to be arranged, but as the meeting takes place only a few days before the London Show, there’s a possibility that it could be a meeting about the show.

RISC OS London Show – 24th October, 11:00am-4:00pm

The London Show takes place just five days after the ROUGOL meeting (or four days after it ends if you’re one of the sleepless attendees who remain online until the early hours), on 24th October, at the Harrow District Masonic Centre in Kenton, London. More details will follow about this in a day or two’s time – or just peek at the Show website.

November look-ahead

Looking beyond this month, and into the next, November’s WROCC meeting will take place on 4th November. WAUG’s meeting should take place on the morning of the 14th – and the next Fireside Chat for developers has been pencilled in for the same evening. Bristol RISC OS Users will be meeting up in their regular pub on the 12th, with ROUGOL meeting again four days later on the 16th.

As ever, do not take these dates as being set in stone – everything is subject to change; if you are looking to attend any of these meetings and events, you should keep your eye on any mailing lists and forums relating to them, as well as on any outlets where announcements may appear.
